In 2004, a statue of Red Sox great Ted Williams, considered by many to be the greatest hitter to ever play the game of baseball, was dedicated outside Gate B at Fenway Park. Williams had a career batting average of .344, with 521 home runs, and is the last player in Major League Baseball to bat over .400 in a single season (.406 in 1941).
