The Red Sox adopted the Jimmy Fund as its official charity in 1953. The "Greatest Hitter Who Ever Lived" Ted Williams was especially dedicated to the charity at that time. Together, the two have a long history of raising funds to support cancer care and research for children. Old-fashioned donation boxes are strategically placed throughout Fenway Park for fans to use.
